CJPI and British Airline Pilots Association Join Forces for General Secretary Recruitment

CJPI, a distinguished executive search and consultancy firm renowned for its expertise in matching leadership with organisational strategy, has forged a collaboration with The British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) to recruit their new General Secretary.

BALPA, a professional organisation and recognized trade union representing the interests of UK pilots, has exclusively retained CJPI to lead the search for their new General Secretary. With a membership exceeding 10,000 pilots, BALPA represents over 85% of all commercial pilots flying in the UK and holds recognition from 20 different airlines and firms. As the home to the largest pool of qualified and experienced commercial pilots in the UK, BALPA plays a vital role in supporting and advocating for pilots since its establishment in 1937.

Chris Percival, the Managing Director of CJPI, expressed delight in being chosen to collaborate with BALPA in their search and selection process for the new General Secretary. This critical position will bear the responsibility of leading BALPA in its mission to uphold and support UK pilots.

The ideal candidate sought by BALPA and CJPI should possess substantial practical leadership experience in a complementary environment, along with a background in leadership roles within unions or membership bodies, and a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape. The individual should exhibit meticulousness and analytical acumen in their approach and demonstrate a track record of forging strong alliances and relationships with key stakeholders for mutual benefit. Effective communication and teamwork, coupled with sound judgement when dealing with members, the media, BALPA personnel, and other stakeholders, are also vital attributes sought in the prospective General Secretary.

Percival affirmed CJPI’s dedication to finding the most suitable candidate for the role, assembling a hand-picked team with diverse expertise to ensure the success of the project.
